During the = spring and the summer,=20 Mr Robert Soderberg has arranged shogi meetings in that city every = second Thursday. Saturday,=20 September 29, it was time for their first ever tournament. They had = chosen to make it an internal=20 Trollhattan tournament, played without ELO calculation. The number of = rounds was four in this one=20 day Monrad event, and the time limit was 30 min + 40 s byo-yomi. Seven = Trollhattan shogi players=20 participated. Almost all the players, except for Robert himself, were = beginners. The only other player=20 with tournament experience was Bjorn Tjellgren, who participated in the = Summer shogi this August in=20 Slottsskogen, Goteborg. Robert had asked me to be a non-participating = tournament director and arbiter,=20 and I made the journey by car Saturday morning.=20 I was surprised to find a group of good beginners. Most of the games = were well fought without bad=20 mistakes. These shogi players will make the Swedish shogi movement even = stronger. Five of them=20 are members of the Swedish Shogi Federation, and with that amount of = members in each city of that=20 size, we would already be 1000 members. Today we are 120 members and we = are still growing. A=20 special tsume problem prize event was won by Robert Soderberg.
