From: DANERUD MARTIN TELIA COM> Date: 21 mar 2001 Subject: A piece of cake Dear shogi friends, The four years birthday of the Swedish Shogi Federation was celebrated in Goteborg and Stockholm with one cake party in each place. Six senior players and eight junior players participated in Goteborg. Eight players participated in Stockholm. After that, the traditional spring game between the consultation teams Goteborg and Stockholm was played on the Internet site Shogidojo. Goteborg won the consultation games in 1999 and 2000. So tonight Stockholm was eager for a revenge, and they were closer than ever before. However, the real winners of these games are the lower rated players, who get the opportunity of being part of a relatively strong game, where their ideas can be discussed, accepted or rejected. We strongly recommend this activity to groups of shogi players who want to improve together. Goteborg vs Stockholm, March 20, 2001 1. P7f P3d 2. P2f P4d 3. S4h R4b 4. P2e B3c 5. P5f S3b 6. K6h K6b 7. In our analyses after the game, the two teams concluded that 17.- P5d would have been better for white. The black defense could be improved by 38.S6d.
