That would be alpha for 1, beta for 2, gamma for three, and so on. Perhaps one could allow to use the (on keyboards more common) a,b,c etc. for alpha, beta, gamma etc. (they also historically trace back to them :-) We could then write B-3c again - but with a different attitude. And don't forget not to number your moves. It's one of the greatest funs when reading Japanese game scores that you might not know which position people are commenting and talking about ... Edi
