From: Andrew Lipscomb CHATTANOOGA NET> Date: 16 mar 2001 Subject: Colored pieces... hmmm... Color-coding could be accomplished easily with kanji pieces. Here are the colors I would suggest: Rook/Tour/Hisha--red (from previous suggestion) Bishop/Fou/Kakugyo--blue (ditto) Gold/Or/Kinsho--gold (obvious) Silver/Argent/Ginsho--silver (also obvious) Knight/Cavalier/Keima--purple (move mixes straight and diagonal) Lance/Lance/Kyosha--pink ("baby" rook) Pawn/Pion/Fuhyo--black (most common piece, most basic color) King/Roi/(Gyoku-Osho)--jade green (the name can be read "jade general" For promoted lance, knight, and silver, use two colors-- the "promoted" character is gold, while the character showing original rank is pink/purple/silver. Promoted rook and bishop would be orange (red+yellow) and green (blue+yellow), selecting a shade of green that doesn't look like jade. For tokin, brown (the closest I can imagine to a mix of black and gold). Andrew Lipscomb ewwa chattanooga net
