Hmmm... every source of xiangqi information I've ever seen in
English, including those written by Chinese, uses English names for
the pieces, although there seem to be no two sources that agree on
which English names to use.

And for that matter, English names would be wrong for Western chess
if you want to go to the original.  There is dispute over exactly
where the proto-game originated, but it first reached the west in
Spain, and the modern game was first played in Italy.
