It closed at the end of May last year. For good Shabu-Shabu (much better than Hamaya ever was) try Lan, located at 56 3rd Ave. (Bet. 10th and 11th Streets). The NY Shogi club now meets every Wednesday from about 6:30 or 7PM at Oikawa Restaurant, located at 805 3rd Ave. (at 50th street) on the 2nd floor. We normally meet in the smaller party room but at times are moved to the larger party room or to a separate section of the main room. Oikawa is a little more expensive than Hamaya used to be but the food and service are far superior. Every aspect of the layout for playing shogi is much better too. Come by sometime!
