From: Reijer Grimbergen FU IS SAGA-U AC JP> Date: 28 aug 2001 Subject: Shogi Forum 2002 I'm sure a lot of you are still recovering from the MSO (looked like a great event from Albrecht's pictures, wish I could have been there :-( ), but I have some news about another big event that I wanted to share with you. Maybe this is already common knowledge, but the Shogi Forum (which was a magnificient event in 1999) is definitely going to be held again next year. I spoke to Nakahara Makoto (come to the metropolis called Saga and meet all the famous people :-) ) and he confirmed that the Shogi Forum is taking place in October 2002. He is head of the organisation committee and he said that the initial plan was to have it in June, but because of the World Cup Football in Japan and Korea then, they decided to move it to October. One other interesting thing concerning this event is that they are thinking about having a team world championships instead of an individual tournament like last time. I don't know the details, but it seems they want to have teams of three players from as many different countries as possible. I am sure more details will become available later, but don't make any plans for October 2002 yet :-).
