Subject: U.S. Championship

     More details of the U.S. Championship in Washington D.C. can now be
announced.

     Dates: May 12 and 13, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

     Location: May 12 at JICC Cultural Center, LaFayette Center 3, 1155
21st street NW, Washington D.C. 20036.  Phone 202-238-6902.
     May 13 at Gallery K, 2010 R street NW, Washington D.C. 20009.  Phone
202-234-0339.
     Suggested hotel: Quality Inn Iwojima, 1501 Arlington Blvd., Arlington
Virginia 22209.  Phone 703-524-5000.  We hope to offer transportation from
the hotel to the tournament sites.
     Entry fee: to be announced, but probably in the $50-60 range.
     Prizes: to be announced.

     Three professional players, including Mr. Ishikawa and Mr. Kondo, are
expected to attend.  Five amateur players from Los Angeles have already
informed us of their intent to participate.

     Format will be knockout at the express request of the visiting pros
(although I and most American players would have preferred Swiss).  The
dates of the event were also chosen to accommodate the pros' schedule.
