Dear Shogi-L,

    As a newcomer to Shogi I am a bit perplexed about all the various methods
of timing a Shogi match.  Could someone provide a basic rundown of the
different systems used?  What is "byoyomi" and what kinds of timers are
available?  Is there a specialized Shogi timer or can a standard Chess timer
work?  How would they differ?  I'm thinking of buying one and I'd like to
know what choices I have before me.  Thanks.
