From: NOSOVSKY G23 RELCOM RU> Date: 27 may 2000 Subject: World Shogi Federation and a real World Championship Hello Shogi Fans I have some ideas for real WC. I just can not understand why it is not possible to have 10 players round-robin Tournament with 5 Japanese (Pro-players) and 5 winners of Qualification Swiss Tournament (places 1-5) (without Japanese players). Japanese have to decide about 5 places by themself. In Qualification Tournament have to be 3 players from Each country member of World Shogi Federation. Then it is possible add some strong players or increase represantative from strong Shogi countries like Brasil may be till 5 members and decrease weak till 1 or 2 players depending the results of previouse Qualification Tournaments. We have the same situation in Renju , when first time had played in WC in 89, Meijin (and WC winner)- Shigeru Nakamura told us that if it was possible to play 10 Japanese in WC the best European was 11. But after 10 years Estonian Renju player Ando Merite won against Nakamura in "Super match" last year. Now in last WC (Beijing) results among best five players only one Japanese. I am sure, that it is great help to play with Pro-players for all shogi players in real WC. First they will win but it will be very good lessons. Best wishes Alexander Nosovsky
