Subject: Shogi World Championship - Inside Story

On the next day after the championship, K. Egoshi told me;
He was shocked and completely lost control of himself when he saw C. Ito
exchanged Kaku and drooped Sujichigai Kaku. He and his room mate, Kei
Ichiyanagi had a lot of discussion on Saturday night how to play against
C. Ito, expecting that C. Ito could be a serious contender for the
championship. Egoshi said "I made various game plan against him, Ibisha
and Furibisha against Ito-san but how could I imagine that Kaku-Uchi
(dropping Kaku). When I saw it I lost myself and felt as if I were in
the complete darkness".
On Friday afternoon, Egoshi came to the reception with the Captain of
Brazilian team and said "Masui-san I wish you change my room to share
with Mr. XXX, whom I know well".
I replied "No, I can not , you are with Mr. Ichiyanagi. You have to make
many new friends"
Then Kei  Ichiyanagi came to me later, "Am I sharing the room with
someone from Brazil whom I don't know at all?" The answer was " Of
course you are, be a nice friends".
Indeed, they became very good friends, Ichiyanagi spent all day on
Tuesday to escort Egoshi to Manhattan.
Egoshi said on Tuesday night visiting NY Shogi Club in a restaurant in
Manhattan,  "I am going to visit my good friend in Germany this Summer".

They are now very close friend.
Another story about this nice young man from Brazil.
Egoshi now lives in the jungle farther from Amazon, 4,000 Km deep north
from Sao Paulo.
What for? He is working hard to build a day care center for orphans of
Brazilian natives.
What is his business?  "Massage". Yes "Massage". In the jungle of
Brazil?  "Yes, gradually, rumor spreading around that I am a good
massager." "Masui-san, how much dose your computer cost?". "It's about
$2,600, you want to buy it". "Yes but" and smiled and whispered "It's
more than my cost of living for one year."
How nice it is that the prize of $3,000 cash went with this young
gentleman to a jungle far from Amazon.
Dear Shogi friends in Europe, Please welcome him when he visits his now
close friend, Ichiyanagi in Germany in Summer.
