I learned doite from a renjuplayer in Kyoto it means pushing away.
rules as far as I know are these.
every player starts with nine pawns on normal shogiboard positioned on
fields 4i to 6i and4h to 6h and 4g to 6g the opponent places them on the
other side same position. the purpose is to reach the other side with all
your pawns in where your opponent is standing in the beginposition. you can
move your pieces normal but also sideways if you end your move right in
front of an enemy pawn he has to move to the side if he can.  so the purpose
is to get to the other side with the least number of moves. It's a nice
diversion from shogi.
