Gerald Hertneck once participated in the Youth World Championship
Chess (or whatever it is called) in Groningen and watched a few Shogi
games. The following year he returned as coach of yet another young
German player, had a lot of time on his hands, participated in the
Shogi event and (by the end of the tournament) performed at Shodan
level.
