From: Colin Paul Adams COLINA DEMON CO UK> Date: 5 feb 2000 Subject: Chu Shogi 2.4 released I have just uploaded version 2.4 of my Chu Shogi program to http://www.colina.demon.co.uk/chu.html This is the version that has been making all the noise on this list for the past few days, solving mating problems. The program boasts the following features: - Runs on all modern operating systems (in theory, at least) - Implements all the rules of the game - Implements the standard handicapping system - Understands Forsyth notation - Full help system, acts as a perfect teacher to newcomers to the game. - Scalable graphics - Two computer players, one that plays slowly at around 15 Kyu strength, and a faster one (which is only available for selected Operating Systems), which can play at about 8 Kyu strength (depending on the time settings). - Choice of International or Japanese pieces. - Can solve any mating problem, given sufficient time. In addition, the mating problems from the 'A' document, are separately available from the same URL as the file A.zip. These were compiled by Nick Bardsley. -- Colin Paul Adams Preston Lancashire
