But then, could the king move to that magic square even though it would be under attack and essentially a move into check? Somehow I see this opening a big can of "what if..." worms? Like, to avoid people coming up with strategies of, rather than checkmate, trying to get their king to that square, a rule might have to be instituted that this magic square rule could only be invoked after both kings had entered the opposing camps?
