On the difference between rules of shogi and rules of tournament conduct the
point is that Japanese are not particularly inclined to obey rules
(tournament) just because they are rules whereas this discussion seems to be
aiming for a situation where players are expected to obey the rules without
question. Rules are only there for those players who are incapable of
communicating with each other. I have no intention to change my practices
whatever the rules may say. I dont share the feeling expressed by Larry K.,
in his reply to my previous mail, that all games in a tournament need be
played under the same conditions, we're just a bunch of amateurs having fun
how can you take it so seriously. I'm imagining a situation where I restart
my opponent's clock and mention the nifu, to which my opponent reacts by
calling the controller and claiming I lose for pressing the clock without
moving. It's a wonderful life.
