Fascinating!  I'll go out on a limb here and say that most of us have
either done this before or seen this before in a tournament!  Well, I
personally think it is not a big deal, and I would actually not be
very much in favor of an official ban to this procedure.  Still, it
is less confusing to both players if you do it the standard way, but
you have to admit that this is the "cool" way to capture!

As shogi catches on with chessplayers in the west, you'll see people
getting very "involved" with shogi rules, and making an official
rulebook will soon become absolutely essential to the success of
shogi organizing.
