Further to my attempts:

I was able to play a game successfully, but only by logging on from the
proxy server. I get a some-class could not be loaded message if I try
playing from my home machine via the proxy server.

As my screen resolution is much worse on the proxy server (which only
acts as my Internet gateway), this is a bit of a problem for me (I
managed to win my first game, but I was having to guess what the
clocks were reading, though the colour coding helped). If anyone has
experience of this sort of problem, and has any ideas about solving
it, please let me know.

Meanwhile, Shogi Dojo is great!
