However, I have and know of several others who have systems in their residence and private laboratory, which include one or more firewalls for R&D. I am also, aware of several doctors of philosophy who have gained much of their thesis research while at play with logic, search, etc. methodologies. The very discussion of chess and shogi is hardly conducted without mention of some pioneers and their research while at play on the subject. The question is good and deserves proper attention without the judgmental comments from those with insufficient experience, understanding, or knowledge. I am not trying ridiculing anyone here. I am merely pointing out that this forum is not a parent-child, teacher-student, or employer-employee relationship. We are peers who are sharing our knowledge with others in order that we might enjoy the game of shogi more fully and by introducing the game of shogi to others. There is a certain level of satisfaction that one receives in helping others and watching a part of ones teachings go out the door with a peer, friend, student, and child. It is only at the table of play that we compete, exhibit our talents, and suggest that we are superior to our opponents. These characteristics should not be extended to any other relationship that we wish to last. It is not polite or honorable to so and I do not see a how a relationship can endure with it. If there is a problem for you with the firewall at your work site, then you need to discuss the matter with your boss and/or the network system administrator. If your need to play is legitimate, then I'm sure it can be resolved. If not, then go to the library and start an e-mail shogi game or a shorter game of Kyoto shogi, Nana shogi, or one of the other kyotoshogi family variants. James
