Malmo is the third biggest city in=20 Sweden, just recently connected with a bridge between two countries to = the Danish capital Copenhagen. The bridge will be opened to public car and train traffic next year. The Swedish Shogi Federation has = a clear ambition of filling the white spots of the European shogi = community map.=20 This tournament in Malmo provides you with opponents on all levels, the = possibility of staying one night (Saturday to Sunday) free in the tournament site at Vasagatan 9E (bring a sleeping bag and tell about it = at the registration!), and a friendly shogi atmosphere with nice=20 restaurants within one minute walking distance and enough time to eat = since three hours are provided for each round in the tournament. Saturday-Sunday, October 2-3, there will be an international shogi = tournament in Malmo in southern Sweden.=20 The earlier Swedish international shogi tournaments in Goteborg and = Stockholm in 1998 were the start of the shogi clubs with regular meetings at those two cities. It is our sincere hope that = Malmo Open will be the start of regular shogi meetings in the Malmo-Copenhagen region. Except for players from Sweden, Norway and = Denmark, we expect playing guests from Russia, England, and the rest of Europe.
