From: Pieter Stouten SHOGI NET> Date: 6 oct 1999 Subject: First Italian Open Shogi Championship On December 4 and 5, the Primo Campionato Italiano Open di Shogi (First Italian Open Shogi Championship) will take place as part of a week-long thinking sports event, sponsored by the City of Milan. In addition to Shogi, there will be Go, Chess, Draughts, Mah Jong, Backgammon and Risk tournaments. The unique aspect is that all of the events take place in Castello Sforzesco which (together with the Cathedral, Cimitero Monumentale and Da Vinci's "Last Supper") is one of the major tourist attractions of Milan. Foreign Shogi players can get free overnight accommodation with me or Enrico Tognoni, and Enrico would be happy to host people who want to do some sightseeing prior to the Shogi event and to show them around. If you want to secure overnight accommodation, please contact me soon. More details will follow, but in the meantime you can check out , the web site of the Italian Go Federation. Hope to see you all there and then! Pieter
