From: Nick Bardsley ICC CO UK> Date: 24 nov 1999 Subject: Re: Capturing a Chu Lion Hello Lionel, My head is beginning to spin now. But I do know what you say under... '3. When one of your Lions has just been captured, whatever is the = capturing piece, you cannot capture any opponent Lion at your very next move, = except by using one of your own Lion as the capturing piece and provided the capture fulfills rules 1 and 2. This rule DOES NOT apply when your = Lion has just been captured by rule 1.' ...is wrong. The following two statements sum up the rules in MSM with less = repetition then exists in MSM: i) If an enemy Lion captures a Lion or a Lion and another piece, any = piece may take that particular enemy Lion on the next move if it is able = to according to its rules of movement and capturing. ii) If an enemy piece other than a Lion captures a Lion, only another = Lion may take an enemy Lion on the next move, subject to the rules of = capturing. Subsequently, all pieces may take enemy Lions if able to. Your statement contradicts these statements and MSM in several respects = which should be fairly apparent on rereading. I am not surprised by = this. I had to reread the rules about re-capture 3-4 times before I had = them straight. Cheers, Nick Bardsley
