Well, here is my attempt to reformulate the restriction rules in a maybe less ambiguous way (I suppose like Steve Evans that there is a missing comma in the MSM rules after `igui'): 1. A Lion may capture an opposing Lion located in one of the capturing Lion `1' square without any restrictions. 2. A Lion may capture an opposing Lion located in one of the capturing Lion '2' square only if: The capturing Lion make a double capture move and the first piece being captured is neither a Pawn nor a Go-between. OR The capturing Lion make a simple capture and the opposing Lion is not protected. (we could precise here what `protected' means, to include the `hidden protector' case). 3. When one of your Lions has just been captured, whatever is the capturing piece, you cannot capture any opponent Lion at your very next move, except by using one of your own Lion as the capturing piece and provided the capture fulfills rules 1 and 2. This rule DOES NOT apply when your Lion has just been captured by rule 1. That is all. Now I do not think that any of these statements contradicts the MSM rules, or that any of the MSM rules contradicts these , but the coffe machine is down for days, so I cannot be really sure of anything! At least this is the way I understand the rule, or better, the way I think I understand the rule. My formulation seems very clear to me, but english is not my first language... Oh well, anyway, in french it sounded clear :-) > Can you say what the clarification of the bare king rule is? Yes, I would like to know that too: I cannot remmeber what was not clear at first :-) -- Lionel Vidal
