From: James Harnett USWEST NET> Date: 14 nov 1999 Subject: BublleBoy Remedies One very good source for Virus Information is Ken Dunham. Take a look at his well described Notes on BubbleBoy and the First Line of Defense against the type of virus that attacks Microsoft Office Suite products. These are some nicely detailed instructions on how to protect against the BubbleBoy strains and some future viruses that exploit security holes in Internet Explorer 5.0 and Microsoft Outlook E-mail programs. These instructions are only from the Microsoft point of view. There are other first line protections available that you should invest in. You need to acquire a decent Anti-Virus Software Program from Cheyenne, Norton, Mcafee, etc.. The key to your selection here, is to find the one in which you can easily Update the Signature file. This file contains the Virus Signatures of all known viruses out there that could affect your system. This file is updated quite often and needs to be constantly replaced onto your system, if you expect the Anti-Virus Program that you have chosen, to work on any future viruses. If you fail to update this file, then you have no protection against future viruses. It's that simple: like paying for your auto, home, medical, and business insurance, periodically (i.e. weekly, monthly, or yearly). Take a look at the article from Ken at the following site: http://antivirus.about.com/library/weekly/aa111399.htm Cheers, James = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = James Harnett, (503) 282-8698 mharnett uswest net P.O.
