From: Doug Dysart EMAIL UC EDU> Date: 20 may 1999 Subject: "The Shogun's Wrath" - Cincinnati Shogi Tournament This Saturday is the first serious shogi tournament held in Cincinnati in a couple of years, and I anticipate that it will be the strongest tournament held in Ohio since Motoyoshi Kawakami won the Ohio Shogi Championship last year. We are taking preregistrations. So far we have 4, with 2 more expected today or tomorrow. Registration for the tournament is 9 to 9:45AM Saturday, and starting time will be at 10AM. Time controls will be 30 minutes with 30 seconds byoyomi. Entry fee is $5. There will be a fair prize distribution so that everyone has a shot at $$. This is a 4-round event and will be rated. With our own site and a more solid base of players than ever, this should turn into a regular event. Look for more tourneys in the future. The next big event should be in June, when we hope to play the OSC championship in Columbus with a number of Japanese players. Doug Dysart Ohio Shogi Club
