From: DEWABMAJ IBMMAIL COM Date: 10 may 1999 Subject: Results of German Championship 1999 An: I4816574--IBMMAIL Von: Thomas Majewski Betreff: Results of German Championship 1999 Dear Shogi players, on the weekend of April, 24th - 25th the german championship took place in Hannover. Eight players from 15 kyu to 3 dan took part with Boris Mirnik as defending champion and European champion the favourite. He took the title once more with a rsult of 5 / 5. But it was not as easy as one might think from seeing the result. He was actually lost or had a very bad game in his first three games against Wolfgang Greb, Jochen Drechsler and Thomas Majewski. But he proved to be a man who has to be beaten three times (in the opening, middle game and esp. the endgame), to earn the point. Second place went to Wolfgang Greb, who beat Thomas Majewski in the final game.
