I checked the Nihon Shogi Renmei homepage, but there was nothing there. I was at the tournament venue, but I do not have the complete results. I can give you the best four, though: 1) Hayashi Takahiro, Japan 2) Larry Kaufman, USA 3) Matt Casters, Belgium 3) Niwa Kenji, Japan There was no play-off for third place, so both Casters and Niwa received third price. I hope the final game will be available soon, since it was a very exciting game in which Larry was better all the time. Only in byoyomi he lost his way, so the tournament did not get a non-Japanese winner. Hayashi is a top-class amateur, so his victory was expected, but Larry was so close to causing a dramatic upset! Maybe I can give a more detailed report later, but at the moment there are other pressing things.
