Subject: Re: Promoting shogi

Last Wednesday a group of shogi players met at my office in downtown
Vancouver after work. There were six players including myself, fellow list
member Malcolm Maynard,  a Japanese student, two beginners and a 5 dan
Japanese player. We plan to meet again  two weeks later, June 30, and it
may become a regular event.

Vancouver has had  a shogi club for some years, consisting of the five or
six strong Japanese players living in Vancouver, but this club has been
dormant until the completion of the new Japanese community centre next
year.

In the meantime, shogi players in the Vancouver area or visiting Vancouver
are invited to contact me through the  list.
