Registration can be done until 2 days before t= he tournament, but reservations of accomodation have to be done personally after July 15. Best shogi wishes, Marc Theeuwen 1999 European Championship Shogi Leiden, August 27-29 The Federation of European Shogi Associations kindly invites you to participate in the 1999 European Championship Shogi. It will be held in Leiden, the Netherlands, from Friday August 27 till Sunday August 29= . Format: The tournament has a different format than in previous years and will consist of three events: 1. The European Championship, consisting of 7 rounds starting on Friday= at 12.00h, the winner of which will be the European Champion. This will be a knock out tournament from which players drop out in case o= f two losses. Afterwards they can play further in the European Open Championship. In case of an odd number of players, one of those play= ers can play one more round in the European Championship. If two or more= players remain after 7 rounds with only one loss, play offs will be held. This event is open to all dan-players having a European passport or = have a residency of more than one year in Europe. In addition the winner = of last year's side tournament is eligable to participate. Time limits = will be 1 hour plus 30s byoyomi. 2. The European Open Championship, consisting of 6 rounds starting on Saturday 9.00h. This tournament is open to both kyu and dan players without any restrictions In addition the dan players that drop out o= f the European Championship will play further in this event while keep= ing the results they obtained in the European Championship during the ro= unds these events have in parallel. Time limits will be 1 hour plus 30s byoyomi. 3. The European Quick Shogi Championship, starting on Friday evening 20= .30h which is also open to all players.
