Manabu Terao(on behalf of ISPS) Problem #12 Nx3b+ means that you miss the fine move. There are several possibilities of attacks, so consider carefully. 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 +--------------------------------------------+ White in hand: | | | | | | | wK | wN | wL | a +------------------+ +--------------------------------------------+ | | | | | | | | | wG | wB | | b | | +--------------------------------------------+ +------------------+ | | | | | | | | wP | wP | c +--------------------------------------------| | | | | | | bN | wP | | | d +--------------------------------------------+ | | | | | | | | | | e +--------------------------------------------+ | | | | | | | | bR | | f +--------------------------------------------+ | | | | | | | | | | g +--------------------------------------------+ Black in hand: | | | | | | | | | | h +------------------+ +--------------------------------------------+ |GN | | | | | | | | | | | i | | +--------------------------------------------+ +------------------+ Answer #12 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 +--------------------------------------------+ White in hand: | | | | | | | wK | wN | wL | a +------------------+ +--------------------------------------------+ | | | | | | | | | wG | | | b | | +--------------------------------------------+ +------------------+ | | | | | | | |+bR | wP | c +--------------------------------------------| | | | | | | wB | wP | bN | | d +--------------------------------------------+ | | | | | | | | | | e +--------------------------------------------+ | | | | | | | | | | f +--------------------------------------------+ | | | | | | | | | | g +--------------------------------------------+ Black in hand: | | | | | | | | | | h +------------------+ +--------------------------------------------+ |GP | | | | | | | | | | | i | | +--------------------------------------------+ +------------------+ bRx2c+,wB4d,bN*2d Point : Make the opponent's Gold move diagonally and out of defending position" G*5d, aiming at bNx3b+,wKx3b,N*4d. Nx3b+ These two options are not clever and show that you don't know the way of making the Opponent's Gold out of a defending position. Rx2c+ is a good move. If Gx2c, your G*3b makes a mate. Then the opponent takes the kNight(Bx4d). Following N*2d is also a good move. If the opponent captures your Rook, G*3b makes a mate. If your Rook cane intrude into the third rank with the opponent's King at the first Rank, that would be an ideal ending game move.
