From: Reijer Grimbergen ETL GO JP> Date: 19 jan 1999 Subject: Re: (Java Shogi) Help JapanPhrases needed ... (Shogi Promotion) I can agree with most of the translations that Dick Iwakura gave (good job, Dick!), but there are two that I have some doubts about. >> - Wicked Move! > Akushu desita. (Akushu yatta, wasi boketoru) As far as I know, "akushu" means "bad move". I am not sure that George wants to say that. I think "wicked move" is closer to "kishu", which means "devilish move" or "surprise move" when written with a different kanji. >> - Don't know how I missed that. > Doshite maketaka wakarimasen. (Doko de boke tottaka wakara hen) The phrase Dick gave means "I do not know why I lost". This also might not be exactly what George means. I would opt for something like "shinjirarenai mouten/misu/poka/shippai deshita ne", which means "What an unbelievable oversight/miss/blunder/mistake that was, eh?".
