However, there are different ways of looking at the Lion move, and anyway it will probably never come up in practice, so I think it's more important to just have a rule covering the case. For what it's worth, Wayne Schmittberger's New Rules for Classic Games also states that a passing move by the Lion must be to an adjacent vacant square and back. Mike
