The closest underground station is Cairoli. You can also walk to the Castello from the Duomo (Cathedral) down Via Dante with all its sidewalk cafes. Participation is free and accommodation is available at Hotel Arena (80.000 lire single/140.000 lire double; breakfast included), very close to the Castle.
