The square from which the piece came is indicated in parentheses.

There are lots of features that could be added to Java shogi, but the last update was back in August 1998.  I'm not sure anyone owns the code
or is even maintaining the present code.  There is mention of a weekly tournament on the Japanese page, but not on the English page.

I'm just glad that there is a place to play shogi on the internet that has lots of players online.
