Anyone know >any more about this? There is a book on shogi variants which contains some information on a game called Taikyoku-shogi that is indeed 36x36, 402 pieces per player. Of the giant shogi variants, it is supposed to be the most recent. The book is called "Sekai no Shogi", by Isao Umebayashi. The publisher is Shogi Tengokusha, FAX (Japan) 0178-52-2236. -Patrick
