From: "Alex R. Has there recently anything been published on this subject (either on paper or on the Net)? I do know of Fairbairn's 1980 article in the 'Shogi' magazine and I know the TSA-leaflets (George Hodges), Steve Evans' freeware Shogi variants program and Hans Bodlander's web-pages. I also know of the existence of 2 Japanese volumes on the subject, but unfortunately I don't read Japanese and I haven't seen them mentioned in a western language. Also, I have seen that there were indications that a variant even larger than the 25x25 Tai Shogi existed, possibly measuring 36x36. Anyone know any more about this? Finally, I understand that there is (or was?) a research group based at Kyoto University focussing on the history of Shogi. I couldn't find anything on this on the Kyoto University web-site. Is there anyone with contact information? Many thanks for any information! Cheers, Lex Kraaijeveld
