The game was/is called 'Samurai' but it is Shogi. It has black wooed pieces with white international diagrams on them. That's right the moves are actually on the peices. very handy for new players. I'll send you a picture if you like. I would however love to get another set like this. I also have a small portable set made by 'Tomy' (Japanese toy company, I think) a little smaller than a package of 3x5 index cards. Anyway let me know if you find anymore type of sets. I made one out of cardboard once and used the diagram model to teach a couple of soldier buddies of mine, during long duty hours...
