From: Leslie Kish & Joshua Krekeler ONE NET> Date: 20 oct 1998 Subject: United States Shogi Federation Greetings to Shogi-L! On Saturday, October 17th, representatives of several American shogi clubs met at the Hamaya Restaurant in New York City to found the national organization for shogi in the United States. One of the major decisions was the name change from Shogi Federation of America to United States Shogi Federation (USSF). I will have full minutes of the meeting available later this week; this posting is to inform you of the most important events of the meeting Here is the list of the U.S. Shogi Federation's first officers and Directors. Board of Directors: Larry Kaufman (Chairman), Minoru Hayashi, Pieter Stouten, Shigetaka Ogihara, George Fernandez, Mark Ohno, Josh Krekeler President: George Fernandez Vice President: Mark Ohno Treasurer: Shigetaka Ogihara Secretary: Josh Krekeler Northeastern Regional Director: Fassil Bekele Southeastern Regional Director: Larry Kaufman Midwestern Regional Director: John Stryker Western Regional Director: Mac Ito Membership remains open for now; as of January 1, 1999, annual dues of $15.00 (US) will be required. Anybody may become a member; however, only members who have been living in the United States for a year will be eligible to vote. Founding Members will be recognized for their contributions to the initial planning of the organization, their participation in the election of officers, or their attendance of the founding meeting. If you can provide a specific service to the United States Shogi Federation, please let me know. I do know that we'll need an editor, publisher, and games editor for a quarterly newsletter, so I'm especially interested in hearing from people qualified for those positions. With thanks, Josh Krekeler Secretary, United States Shogi Federation ------------------------------------------ Sign up for the USSF discussion list at http://usshogi.listbot.com !
