From: SalvaAC AOL COM Date: 18 nov 1998 Subject: Re: Ranging Rook and Bishop Exchange Hi, I think for furibisha (ranging rook) side, it is bad to exchange rooks because ibisha (static rook) side has more devestating drops. If furibisha has created a mino castle, for example, one strong way to attack that castle is to have a rook on the back rank. To exchange rooks allows your opponent not to have to force his way in at all to get his rook there - he just drops it. On the other side, it is often good for furibisha to exchange bishops - because that side usually has better drops with the bishop. At least that is my understanding. Strong players could give you some exact game situations to bear this out or prove me wrong. Tony
