From: SChazworth AOL COM> Date: 27 may 1998 Subject: Sweet from sour.... Good that we know the reasons behind the "one Shogi book" at our bookstores. Sad that this could be a crippling factor in the worldwide development of Shogi. Why are there problems with new authors (preferably from inside of Japan, where the legal troubles seem to be negligible) publishing translated works into other languages? This guy sues new authors' material as well? How does one get around this? Can the Japanese Shogi Association be of help? There is talk of FIDE (chess) games being "intellectual property" and thus copyrightable. Could there be a possibility of the same situation in this case? Please reply to me personally, and not to Shogi - L. The list has probably endured enough of this. Cheers, Sean
