It's nothing to do with censorship - it is to do with optimising everyone's use of the mailing list. It has been stated repeatedly that no-one objects to SS posting his views, opinions, information, w.h.y. However, some people (myself included) object to the list itself being bunged up with great screeds of stuff with peripheral relevance. reading about Shogi Girls does not help my shogi. Reading about SS's ongoing war with X, Y, or Z does not help my shogi. All we are asking is that a brief summary with references be posted rather than the whole screed. That is not censorship... As a general rule, I prefer to think of the list as a *digest* with pointers to fuller explanations of entries via URLs etc. A sort of 'Stop Press' column if you will. Obviously, the analogy cannot be carried too far and there are occasions when lengthy postings are quite relevant, but I think that in general, postings to shogi-l should be brief and to the point (unlike this one...).
