From: John GLOBALNET CO UK> Date: 25 may 1998 Subject: Stouten .V. Sloan As I am fairly new to the Shogi Mailing list, I don't know how well my comments will be recived, but here goes. I can see points on both sides of the arguments between Mr Sloan and Mr Stouten. While I agree that the "Girls of Shogi" or whatever it was, could be seen as not really relevant to the discussion, and the arguments supporting it's inclusion in the list were very much the same kind of thing that UK tabloid newspapers use to justify poking into people's lives. (what non Japanese newspapers published the story?) I feel that warning people about the existance of a breach of copywrite is a very valid, if not essential bit of information. If we buy something off these people, will we get the product we ordered? or are we more likely to get the runaround, and letters returned with "not known at this adress" or similar. There are enough scare stories about buying on the net, without letting people get away with this kind of scam unopposed. I would be in favour of encouraging people to post the names and addresses of anywhere that they have ordered Shogi equipment/books and not had the order filled, or been swindeled in any other way. Or if this is impractical, then perhaps a list of recommended stockists could be compiled. So c'mon guys be big about this and keep the agression for the game.
