Subject: Swedish shogi is growing

Dear shogi friends,

The number of paying individual members of the Swedish Shogi Federation has
grown considerably. We are now 85 members. Most of all, however, it should
be noted that we have a growing shogi activity in Sweden. Our first shogi
club, The Goteborg Shogi Society, was founded in May, and more clubs will
soon be founded in northern as well as southern Sweden. Next year, the
first ever Swedish Championship of shogi will be played.
However, only 16 months after the foundation of the Swedish Shogi
Federation, we do not have any European top players. We can just humbly
hope that in the future, out of the above mentioned shogi activities, some
Swedish talents will emerge on the amateur shogi scene. Meanwhile, we all
enjoy the wonderful game of shogi in Sweden.
