From: Leslie Kish & Joshua Krekeler ONE NET> Date: 30 aug 1998 Subject: Shogi Federaton of America founding meeting The Shogi Federation of America will be writing its bylaws over the next six weeks, ending with a meeting in New York after the Ryu-O game there in October. The purposes of the meeting will be to resolve any last-minute issues, elect officers for the permanent organization, and adopt the bylaws. Our original timetable had the meeting scheduled for Thursday the 15th or Friday the 16th. We have since learned that the Ryu-O game will be ending on Friday, leaving the rest of the weekend free. Plans for the weekend also call for a still-unnamed tournament. The winner of the tournament will be a candidate for a trip to the First International Amateur Shogi Tournament. One suggestion for the weekend's schedule is: October 16 Arrive in New York City, watch the end of the Ryu-O game, meet pros. October 17 Day - Five-round tournament Evening - Shogi Federation of America founding meeting October 18 Playoff among the players with the top four scores from Saturday Having the meeting on the weekend, in the middle of the tournament, will hopefully allow more people to attend. If any members of the New York club can help us work out more details, please send a message to usshogi listbot com or joshxles one net. You can sign up for the Shogi Federation of America discussion list, where we will work on issues for the bylaws in detail, at http://usshogi.listbot.com Josh Krekeler
