Subject: Murayama 8 dan died.

Requiem:
Satoshi Murayama, pro 8-dan died last Saturday of cystcancer. He was 29
years old.
He had been on sick leave since this past April. Although he didn't admit
openly,
his ultimate goal in life was to become a meijin. That's why he did not
give up
playing in the B-1 Jun-i-sen right after having a major surgery last spring.
His first game out of the hospital in the B-1 game was against Maruyama, in
which he
had a nurse in waiting right next door to the room he was fighting. He
lost. But he
managed to get his ticket back to the A class last March, when he found he
had to be
hospitalized again.The last few months prior to his promotion to the A
class were his
prime time. He was on his way to capture his first title in several major
preliminaries.
He had been suffering from a serious kidney disease since he was a little boy.
Because of very strong medication he'd been receiving, his whole body was
swollen,
and he seemed to have been worried about his height. I'm not a tall woman,
but he was
some 2 inches shorter than me. But what saddens me most is that he did not
really
believe we loved him.
