In all fairness to Larry, the problem lies in the fact that there is no
national American Shogi organization, which typically would be responsible
for advertising the championship. That being the case, one might have
expected the organizers (the LA Shogi Club) to disseminate the information
more effectively, but it may well be that they do not use e-mail and do not
appreciate the power of electronic advertising. Having said that, I do feel
that an obvious and easy opportunity to attract more players was missed.
Hopefully, that won't happen in the future.

I would also like to request that people only quote relevant sections of
e-mails they are responding to in order to maintain a high signal-to-noise
ratio.
