Eric V. Greenwood The above as a reference for Andrew Wong's high school chess variants comparison project. >From what I could tell the mentioned site is not really useful for what Andrew required. What he really wanted was something about the basic strategy in Shogi. I could not find a WWW page which gives the basics: - high level description of principals. Static and Ranging Rook. - Some simple illustrated shogi proverbs - some basic castles What he really requires is one of the following books: - Shogi for Beginners - The Art of Shogi. Unfortunately if he were to order these books his project would be due before he received his book. I suggested to him the following WWW sites, but I think it would take alot of work for a beginner to get value out of them w/o a nice book: - Pieter Stouten's site. The best site for getting to other Shogi sites - The Lost Systems. Forgot the site but gave to him - The Oyama Defense Translation - Bob D.'s mirror to access M. Terao's first 30/40 move postings - Reijer Grimberg's Shogi Vocabulary to obtain some Shogi proverbs.
