Subject: First International Amateur Shogi Tournament

The "First International Amateur Shogi Tournament" has been postponed until
17-22 June 1999 (next year). Relevant deadlines are:

* 20 May 1998: certification from national organizations that a
  representative will be sent (this is required as it enables the
  organizers to estimate number of participants and costs).
* 31 December 1998: formal announcement of representatives by the national
  organizations; formal registrations of the representatives.

American players should be interested that it is still unclear who can
inform the Nihon Shogi Renmei that representatives will be selected and how
these representatives will be selected. I just hope that May 20 does not
pass without a letter having been sent to the Renmei...
