Dear Shogi Friends,

Do you know Pawn Handicap? This is a game you are to play
with your handicap taker opponent who has become strong enough
to beat you in a lance handicap game while you would not like
admit your opponent is becoming an even game player with you.

Which pawn of the 9 pawns at the handicap-giver side is to be
removed? The answer is the one at the head of rook. So the handicap
giver can move Rx8g+ as the first move with great advantage and
is most likely to win the game.  "If you beat me in a pawn handicap
game, then I admit you are as strong as I am and I will be pleased
to play an even game with you."  In this way a handicap giver's
authority will last almost eternally.
