From: Patrick Davin LYRA VEGA OR JP> Date: 18 sep 1997 Subject: Re: Announcing Shogi and MiniShogi on Richard's PBeM Server Hearty thanks to John and Richard, first for their magnificent work on the play-by-email server and on shogi in particular, and now for making it official. For those of you who have never played by email, here's your chance to play a serious yet leisurely game of shogi from the comfort of your own home (or workplace :-) ). The server is absolutely free, very easy to use, and works flawlessly. And the opponents are all friendly. For those who _have_ played by email before, I'd like to re-emphasize two big advantages of the PBeM server (over plain email): 1) No need to mess with diagrams. Just send your move to the server in standard notation; the server updates the diagram and sends it to both players, no muss, no fuss. 2) ELO ratings. Need I say more. About the only thing I miss is support for standard handicaps. (nudge nudge) See you there! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- >Shogi and MiniShogi are now official games on Richard's PBeM Server. > >Richard's PBeM server exists you allow you to play a variety of games >via email with opponents from all over the Internet. >Shogi and MiniShogi are the latest additions to the collection of >over 50 games!
